Years ago when I was discovering my passion for photography I came across Jessica Drossin's work and her photo editing products and was spellbound. Her work has a rich painterly quality that I find so inspiring. Having come from a painting background, the painterly look is part of my own style.
While I believe it is necessary to get certain things technically correct in camera, like exposure and focus, I'm not a purist when it comes to photography. I'm not in it to get a perfect photo straight out of the camera (or SOOC in photog lingo). That is only half of the artistic process and only to better achieve the look I want in the post-processing. The editing is where I really insert my artistic vision into the image.
Like most artists, my first drawing tools were my crayons. Remember the giant box with ALL the colors and the sharpener on the back? For me, there was nothing more exciting. I can still remember the smell and my favorite colors.
I own the whole JD Beautiful World Collection and they are my grownup version of that giant crayon box. the possibilities are endless.
I've tried out other Photoshop actions, Lightroom presets, Texture Bundles, ect. and have yet to find anything I like better and use them almost exclusively.
Jessica creates these products mostly geared for portrait editing and retouching. But I not only use them for my portraiture but find they work just as beautifully for my fine art landscapes as well.

Here are my favorites! These are my "go-to's" that I use on almost all my images!
Foundations
These are amazing! Everything you need to do a clean edit from start to finish is in this set. Running these actions is a regular part of my editing workflow for portraits and landscapes.

Illuminations Instant Overlays
Do you love working with overlays but often lack the time to grab, place, blend and mask them? Instant overlays are the very first overlay that works with just the click of a button! All the richness, tones, directional light, and vignetting that you love, are just faster and easier!
You can purchase these HERE
Lightscaping Instant Overlays
And because I love the Illuminations Instant Overlays so much, these work similarly to the Instant Overlays but are more for light direction.

Matte & Haze
This action set is the perfect thing to add the finishing touch.

Again, these sets are part of my standard editing workflow, but there are so many more I love to use, and will be showcasing them in future posts. But if you want my recommendations of which ones to start with, this is it!
